What is BfE tech again?
Introduction to BfE Tech

As you know, BfE facilitates a startup incubation programme where we provide free support for social enterprises. Mentors sign up to help specific startups reach goals over multiple projects spanning 6-8 months.

At BfE tech, we have three main functions:

  1. Build and maintain the software and architecture needed to run BfE.
  2. Update internal operations with automation and cutting edge digital processes to scale BfE.
  3. Create digital products for our enterprises to use, to add even more value to our programme.

In contrast to Incubation projects, Tech projects are not bound to a specific timeline and occur throughout the year. We also cover a vast range of topics, so whether you have experience in Product Management, UI/UX, Analytics, DevOps, Digital Marketing or any other digital experience, we need you!

January event: Career Talk

In 2022, we are going to host a selection of events to bring mentors together with the BfE community of professional and student volunteers. In January we are planning a careers talk. We are hoping to have three or four professionals describe their current role and how they arrived there, then hold a Q&A to answer questions from the participants.

If you are interested in taking part in this event, please let us know at: tech.contact@mentor.bridgesforenterprise.com

If you want to present at an event about a different topic, or you have any thoughts about getting involved, please reach out!

Mentor opportunity
Digital Marketing (Internal)

Do you know someone with experience in Digital Campaign analysis or Digital Marketing?

We are looking for a mentor to oversee our SEO 2.0 project:

The SEO 2.0 project builds upon a previous project (SEO 1.0), and aims to improve the quality and quantity of BfE’s website traffic by the means of data visualization, statistical analysis, and A/B testing. As a mentor, you will supervise a team of 2-3 analysts to understand the current web traffic of BfE’s website, propose digital marketing strategies, and test your hypothesis using the Google Ads platform. Upon the completion of the project, the mentor will have an opportunity to join the BfE Technology division as a Global Manager in Digital Marketing to oversee the digital marketing campaigns for the organisation. You may also find out more about Technology at BfE here.

Time commitment: 3 hours per week (flexible working time).

Would you like to volunteer your time to help a startup with your software engineering and analytics skills?

The Toolkit iSkills (TTI) Ltd is a Kenya-based social enterprise currently completing the incubation programme with BfE. TTI trains vulnerable youth and women, certifies their skills with regulatory bodies, and then links them to employment or entrepreneurship.

The project is to work with TTI on a technical advisory project to improve the collection and visualisation of data, and test their online training and development for scalability. We are looking for a mentor who is experienced in software engineering and data analytics to oversee the project. As a mentor, you will be supervising a team of 4-5 students from the Cambridge (UK) chapter, who will meet once every week. The project will last 6 months.
