Bridges for Enterprise
🚀 BfE Briefs, Vol. #17
Welcome to the November BfE newsletter! 🎉 (... a bit delayed 😓)

Dear BfE community,

I hope this email finds you doing well and getting into the holiday spirit. I spent the better part of November in Tanzania and Kenya for work, and it was fantastic to reunite with old friends, make new friends and connect with people in-person that I had only met online. While in Nairobi, I had the opportunity to meet Janet (Global Program Assistant), Aparupa (BfE Advisor), and Angelous (BfE Advisor) on multiple occasions. For me, after experiencing the power of the BfE online community for years, it was memorable to connect with like-minded peers in Kenya. While in Nairobi, I also visited some social enterprises, such as the award-winning Sanergy, and spoke to students at Strathmore University about BfE and social entrepreneurship more generally. It was exciting to see the enthusiasm among students and to experience the vibrant, fast-growing East African startup ecosystem firsthand. I left the trip feeling even more conviction about BfE's mission, gratitude for all of you who make it happen, and fresh with new ideas for progressing our impact further.

Stay tuned for more to come in 2023 and beyond. I'll be back in January with more updates. Until then, I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season ahead!

With lots of gratitude,

Jordan

We have completed the development of another important feature, and are transitioning into the testing stages. Both Ruochen and Tom have been very dedicated in managing the team and contributing to the app developments, which is not easy work as volunteers. We would also like to thank all other teams that assist the software development team to develop the Intranet and hope we can deploy the app soon for the end users to test. 🎊

🙋 Members Corner

We are so grateful for the outstanding contributions made by the following BfE members this month. Thank you and well done! 👏

  • 🌍 From BfE Global Technology:
    • Shout out to Aliyah (Global Tech Talent Volunteer) She joined us in May 2022 and ever since has been an important force in helping shape the day-to-day operations of the talent team. Her enthusiasm and integrity along with her work ethic have been exemplary. Aliyah continuously went ahead and beyond by working as a point person between different hiring managers and the Tech Talent Manager to coordinate interviews and pick up loose ends; Hesam (Global Tech Talent Manager) cannot be more thankful for her time and helpful manner in organizing the operations of the Talent Team. She is soon going to step away from BfE as she is pursuing her career dreams and we would like to wish her the best of luck in her future endeavours 🎉
  • 🇬🇧From BfE Cambridge Chapter: Jon (Cambridge Growth and Partnerships Director) has done a great job this term helping to organise external speaker events and training sessions.
