We've continued to make steady progress on various initiatives at the global level. Here's what each division was up to:
๐ Incubation
- Diagnostic Phase: We had fruitful discussions with BfE Advisor Aparupa about the diagnostic phase, and are in the process of finalising the workplan. The operational details have also been flashed out with the Singapore chapter presidents and Jeson (Global Operations Head). The next step is to engage with the mentors and prepare for launch

The Global Partnerships team is currently recruiting for Summer Research Interns (see JD here) to contribute to our efforts in building out a comprehensive research base of the social impact space in the regions we currently serve. Please share this opportunity with your network! ๐

Additionally, this summer BfE will be offering afree 4-week training course, hosted by CliMatr, on how to best integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) topics into startups. This interactive training will focus on how to best equip businesses with the agility and knowledge to develop sustainability best practices, accelerating both the ecological transition and positive social impact
-
Communications: The Global Communications team is planning to host an event with professional mentors in June. We also have 2 articles in progress that will be published on our Medium blog soon, discussing navigating the BfE application and the fundraising landscape for social entrepreneurs. Lastly, we have been working on finalizing the BfE annual impact report with the Global Impact Research Division. Stay tuned for more ๐

โ๏ธ Technology
- This month we are sad to announce that our Global Technology Head โ Kevin will step down from his role and devote more time to his current work in interpretable machine learning. A big thanks to Kevinโs unremitting effort and contributions to BfE Technology and the entire BfE community, and he will keep staying with us as a technology advisor to offer invaluable suggestions and guidance. There is no doubt that Kevin will continue to deliver impact in technology through his academic research, and wish all the best to Kevinโs new journey
- In the meantime, Hua who was originally the software development manager inside the BfE Tech team, will step up and take Kevinโs role as the new Global Technology Head. He is currently working as an application developer inside PwC Deals Technology team, and has been with us since last July. As a technologist, Hua has experience with a wide range of technical exposure which can be brought to the BfE Techโs leadership. Please feel free to reach out to him with congratulations or any questions and suggestions to support BfE altogether to greater heights
- We are thrilled to welcome Jordan, our new Global Tech DevOps Manager who will be taking charge of overseeing the design, development and deployment pipelines inside BfE Technology Divisionโs infrastructure. Jordan is a professional systems engineer based in Bristol who has years of experience focusing on IT architecture and infrastructure. Weโre very confident that his concentrated technical expertise and sharp business sense will provide solid support to multiple BfE Tech teams and help us build great DevOps infrastructure
- We are also absolutely delighted to welcome Adam as our new Global UI/UX Manager who will be leading the team of 4 UI/UX designers, and working together with them on various design projects including Intranet UI design mockups, BfE design system projects, style guides and usability testing. Adam is currently a senior Experience Designer at Dyson. He has been a professional UI/UX Designer for more than a decade and held mentoring and managerial roles in the last 3-4 years. We have utmost faith in his seasoned experience and strong expertise in diverse areas of design, from research to hands-on, as well as his superb organization and management skills and we are excited to see what the design team will bring to the table!

|

๐ฎ๐ณ From BfE New Delhi: Mr. Segun Abiri, founder of Ladewin Educational responded positively to the final deliverable presented to him. He has already put some of the suggestions by team into action. It was a delightful learning experience for BfE New Delhi working on their first consulting engagement with Ladewin ๐
๐ธ๐ฌ From BfE Singapore: We'd like to highlight E&L Suppliers as an outstanding Consulting engagement we had this semester. The startup's product offerings include biomass briquettes, which has huge market potential amidst Malawi's transition to a more environmentally-friendly means of energy usage. The company has a strong growth trajectory given the promising addressable market. Our members have learnt a lot from the founder's business acumen and passion to ensure sustained impact |

The next iteration of the BfE Startup Review Committee is coming up next month! This biannual event is where BfEโs Autumn 2022 cohort will be voted on.
