Database Migration and Business Operation Digitalisation (5-6 hours / week for 8 weeks) | |
|
BfE is undergoing a rapid digital transformation to migrate our data into a centralised MySQL database and formalise our operational flow to be automated by our internal apps. We are looking for 2 passionate volunteers to assist with database design and migration, as well as integration with our development pipeline. Upon satisfactory completion of the project, there is an opportunity to join our management team as a Global DataOps Manager.

Application Portal (React / Django / DevOps) | |

As a global nonprofit offering pro-bono incubation services, we receive many applications from around the world and manage a robust selection process. This project involves building a MVP for an application portal that allows applicants to track their application, schedule interviews and manage their data. This will sync with BfE’s centralised database, allowing successful applicants to have a smooth onboarding process into BfE and saving us many volunteer manpower in manually sorting out their data. We are looking for volunteers with experience in one of React and Django, as well as developers interested in learning about DevOps.

WordPress Code Management and Training (PHP) | |

One of the key tech stacks BfE relies on is a self-hosted WordPress code base. We are looking for volunteers with experience in WordPress PHP to help us with
- developing a basic set of in-house training materials for new student developers to get started on contributing, and/or
- documenting our existing codebase (with only 2-3 custom plugins) and incorporating tools to promote better code management practices.
You will work closely with our global team that maintains the Docker infrastructure for PHP WordPress and may also gain exposure to DevOps.
